چکیده مقاله:

In order to study of kidney tubules, twenty specimen of 45 days old juvenile grouper (Epinephelus coioides) were prepared after proper biometry. Five mm thick sections were removed from the middle and posterior end of the kidney and fixed in Bouin and glutaraldehyde. The routine procedures of preparation of tissues were followed for light and transmission electron microscopic study. In macroscopic observations, it was observed that kidney was located retroperitoneal and attached to the vertebral column with an average length of 4±0.2 cm. The microscopic results showed that nephrons consisted of glomerules, proximal, distal and collective tubules. The proximal tubules were detectable with their brush border. Distal tubules had cuboidal cells with round nucleus that were positioned in the middle part of the cell. The lumen of these tubules were PAS negative due to lack of brush border. Collecting tubules were also PAS negative as their cuboidal cells lacked brush border and their ellipsoid to round nuclei were positioned central to the cell. TEM analyses of sections showed more details of tubules structure, e.g. plasma membrane showed an extensive system of depressions in all tubules, except in collecting tubules.

Chronic effects of suspended solids on gill structure, osmoregulation, growth, and triiodothyronine in juvenile green grouper Epinephelus coioides

Despite suspended solids being an important water-quality parameter in the regulatory process, very little is known about the risks of prolonged exposure to high concentrations of suspended solids in fish, especially marine species. In this study, the green grouper Epinephelus coioides, an important mariculture species with a wide geographic distribution, was exposed to various concentrations (...

Efficacies of inactivated vaccines against betanodavirus in grouper larvae (Epinephelus coioides) by bath immunization.

Betanodavirus is the pathogen of viral nervous necrosis (VNN) disease that has caused mass mortality among many species of marine fish at larval stage. In this study, the efficacy of inactivated betanodavirus was evaluated by bath-immunization and bath-challenge of orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) at early larval stage. Two kinds of chemicals were used for inactivation of the virus...

Characterization of c-Jun from orange-spotted grouper, Epinephelus coioides involved in SGIV infection.

The nuclear phosphoprotein c-Jun is a member of the AP1 family of transcription activating complex, can be induced by various extracellular stimuli such as virus infection. In this study, the c-Jun gene (Ec-c-Jun) was cloned from orange-spotted grouper, Epinephelus coioides. The full-length Ec-c-Jun cDNA is composed of 2046 bp and encodes a polypeptide of 328 amino acids with 81% identity of ze...

JNK1 Derived from Orange-Spotted Grouper, Epinephelus coioides, Involving in the Evasion and Infection of Singapore Grouper Iridovirus (SGIV)

c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) regulates cellular responses to various extracellular stimuli, environmental stresses, pathogen infections, and apoptotic agents. Here, a JNK1, Ec-JNK1, was identified from orange-spotted grouper, Epinephelus coioides. Ec-JNK1 has been found involving in the immune response to pathogen challenges in vivo, and the infection of Singapore grouper iridovirus (SGIV) and...

Grouper (Epinephelus coioides) CXCR4 is expressed in response to pathogens infection and early stage of development.

Chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 4 (CXCR4) from orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) was identified and characterized in this study. gCXCR4 shared common features in protein sequence and predicted structure of CXCR4 family. This suggested that gCXCR4 is a member of G protein-coupled receptors with seven transmembrane domains. The expression patterns revealed that gCXCR4 may play a key ...
